So behind every successful woman is a great man AND a great personal assistant. And I’m no exception. I have the most amazing team surrounding me and one of those beauties is Amy Nelson my PA. She’s been the foundation of who I am today. When she’s not being her awesome self and making me look good, she’s all kinds of awesome just by being herself AND the creator of a shiny new blog – Learning to F.L.Y. – First Love Yourself. Go check it. She’s one clever chick with a super important message. I love her to bits.
Now over to Amy – she’s sharing her yummy nut butters with you all today.
Now i’m certainly not the first and I won’t be the last, but here are some really easy, all natural nut butters you can make at home.
I use a Thermomix to make mine but any food processor will do the trick.
Cacao – Macadamia nut butter
INGREDIENTS
350g of raw macadamia nuts
1 heaped tablespoon of coconut oil/butter
3 tablespoons of cacao powder
2 medjool dates (seeds removed)
Put your macadamia nuts in the food processor and blitz until a smooth consistency. There is a lot of natural oil in macadamias so they pretty much instantly become a butter. After this put in your coconut oil and gradually add your cacao powder until you have a chocolate flavour you are happy with. Everyones preference is different. I would say the same with the medjool dates, add one date and if you find it sweet enough, you may not need the second.
Almond Butter
INGREDIENTS
350g of Raw Almonds
1/3 – 1/2 cup of cold pressed organic virgin olive oil
Pinch of salt
Put the almonds in the food processor and blitz until you have a fine crumb consistency. Unlike the macadamia’s, almonds don’t produce the same amount of oil. Slowly add your olive oil until you achieve a consistency you are happy with. Some days I make it and it is quite crunchy and thick and other times it is much smoother and runny. Both are ok and equally as delish! Add your salt to taste or leave out if you prefer.
Enjoy your nut butters on sliced apple, banana or toast. Or like me – a cheeky snack right off the spoon!
Now… who’s for morning tea? And remember what I always say… like treats like. So whilst olives treat ovaries… nuts treat nuts! 😉

Just made the macadamia butter…yummo! Thanks Nat for sharing and thanks Amy! x
Yummy, will try the macadamia one for sure!…I make my own almond butter in the thermomix and don’t find I need to add an oil at all…I just blend for a minute, scape down and repeat until a smooth and creamy consistency…doesn’t take long at all 🙂
Hi Amy,
Just wondering if a blender would be okay to use for these recipes?
Yes!
