Five minutes with Sarah Britton – and why running is for horses!

Do you remember my very beautiful wellness pal Sarah Britton? She previously shared with us on how to drink your sunscreen. Sarah is a holistic nutritionist and chef at two organic restaurants in Denmark. Can you hear my tastebuds already? Her deep love for health and whole foods led her to create the outstanding blog, My New Roots. It helps that she’s one very clever cookie (or should I say amaze ball?).

Sarah recently told me something that made my insides throw a little party; she’d seen my cleanses and thought they were a wonderful idea. Must admit, I’m pretty proud of the program – just as I hope all those who start today (hello to you if you are!) will find, they are pretty achievable and by the end you feel amazing. Anyway, because Sarah loves to share (and loves us here in Australia) she is gave us 5 minutes of her time. Cleansing or not – take a read, she’s got a few pointers here for you to take with you on your merry way today.

Cleanse or Detox?
I prefer ‘cleanse’, because it sounds so much gentler and more positive. However, I’ve learned that certain countries respond specifically to one or the other. For instance, I am just putting together a cleansing program for Portugal and they told me that we should call it a ‘detox’ because of the language. I suppose I use them both!

Juice or Smoothie?
I prefer smoothies because they fill me up more and I like the fiber in them. Plus, I can add fun things like bee pollen, hemp protein, spirulina, etc. They are a great meal when you’re in a hurry too.

What’s your ‘go to’ meal on the run?
I always keep cooked legumes and grains in my fridge, so when I need a fast meal, I toss those together and add whatever veggies I have on hand. A drizzle of olive oil, a squeeze of lemon and I’m done! And like I mentioned above, a smoothie is great too.

Running or Yoga?
Running is for horses. Bahaha! I am so not a runner. Yoga is my thing for sure. I’ve been practicing for almost 15 years now and I don’t think I’ll never stop.

Ultimate holiday destination?
Funny you should ask – I just booked my ticket there! My husband and I are spending three weeks on Kauai this March. I’ve been dreaming about that island for a long time and I cannot wait to go. I have a thing for waterfalls…
