I Nat, I've been following Sherill for a little while now, thanks to The Wellness Warrior introducing me to her. I know this is unrelated to breast cancer, but I'd love to know Sherill's take on arthritis (especially in a person in their 30's) and whether it's related to inflamation? Anything she suggests as a treatment?

I've heard she recommends vitamin C for good health? Just wondering why and what sort of daily dosage?

What's Sherill's take on sugar?

Thanks Nat, I'll be tuning in. L

Hi Nat,

I like Sherrill's take on things. There is logic to what she was saying and she had some evidence in there which was great to see. But I also know very little about this aspect of genetics so it will be good to hear more.

I may not be able to tune in tomorrow so I would really like if you could ask Sherrill a couple of questions from me. She mentioned towards the end of the interview about some research on fear and it's impact on prognosis for breast cancer sufferers. I would like more detail around this research and the name of the researchers if possible so I can find out more. This study could have implications for the work I do as a psychologist.

I guess I am also interested in Sherrill's thoughts about people who do their absolute best to eat well, excercise and carry a positive attitude, including those cancer sufferers who have chosen alternative treatments and who have still died in spite of this. I know a few people in this boat, wonderful people who fought very hard and never gave up until the end. I'm sure that you both realise that there are also people who do all the wrong things and never suffer from cancer (or anything else) and live to a ripe old age. What do you both make of this?

Thanks.

Thanks Sarah, this is awesome and the kind of Q's Sherrill wants to be asked. If you can't make it, I can always ask her this question on your behalf and the recording be played at anytime (as far as I understand).

I'll pop it on my list but I'd love you to tune in.

Nat - I'll try my hardest to be there as I think Sherrill is misguided. As a scientist, medical writer and consultant on breast cancer clinical guideline reviews I am very concerned that misinformation is being spread. BRCA1 (located on chromosome 17q21) and BRCA2 (located on chromosome 13q12.3) are tumor suppressor genes. Mutations on these genes lead to the inability to regulate cell death and therefore lead to uncontrolled cell growth resulting in cancer. BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations increase the relative risk of breast cancer by 10- to 20-fold. Epigenetic modification of these genes has no effect on their tumour supressing ability. It is a little like having a blackout ... turning the lightswitch on or off isn't going to make a difference to the lightbulb!
