Happy Days to ma Ladies!  {International Women’s Day 2017}

How’s this Princess Leia look alike poster from a IWD in years gone by!

Today is International Women’s Day – a day in which we get to celebrate being the more feminine counterpart of the humans populating this beautiful and awesome planet.

I took this from wikipedia;

International Women’s Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women’s Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year.[2] In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women for their economic, political and social achievements.

As a woman in business, a influencer and educator in women’s health, I feel like I can say, I get women – plus I am one so that helps a little too – just saying.  And don’t for one second get me wrong.  Men are equally as incredible for their very own reasons and the sooner we can accept they aren’t any good at multitasking, the better.  Enough said.

For many years I felt as though I was failing in business and at times as a leader.  It took me quite some time to realise that, it wasn’t so much that I was failing but I was trying to go about my business from a masculine space.  Not necessarily my natural state, but where so many expected me to operate from, simply because that was the trend. Authority, force and strength – great qualities, just not any that really resonated with me.  I eventually learnt to tap into that more gentle, loving and nurturing state and leading from this more innate space, things really began to change.

Instead of commanding, I decided to be an example.

Instead of being forceful, I looked for the gentle approach.

I didn’t wish to preach, I wanted to share.

Rather than be demanding, I tried to soften.

And I interweaved love as if it were a golden thread throughout it all, in business, home life, loved ones and family, I made it the centre point because that to me is the centre of who we are as women.  We nurture and love from a very special and unique place, something we need to hold onto dearly and never let go of.

I began to look for the feminine in everything I could possibly apply it to.  Chinese Medicine’s entire foundation is laid upon the principles of yin and yang.  Each and everything can be put into one of these elements.  Male = yang, Female = yin.  Day = yang, Night = yin.  Oestrogen = yin, Progesterone = yang.  And then of course there is yang within yin and yin within yang which allows us to be all, both or something in-between representing the ebbs and flow of who we truly are.

I believe (and this is just my opinion) that when women try to constantly lead from a masculine place, it isn’t organic.  It’s manufactured, meaning those who lead this way aren’t necessarily talking from their natural space and it’s super hard to maintain because it’s contrived.  It’s not to say that we must all be in our most divine feminine form in every waking moment. We are of course yin with yang and we have yin within that yang and so on.  At times we have to draw on our masculine, but to do this in every moment (especially for me in business) appears to impact our health and our hormones.  Many women I see who have lost their menstrual cycles or found their emotions to be in a state of confusion simply because they have backflipped into our counterpart; the masculine.

Today my hope is that women celebrate our most innate qualities, that we do so with love, without force or dominance but simply by allowing our most natural state to multiply by manifesting more of the feminine force.  Can I tag you, to pass it on?

 YEAH (WO)MAN!

We are all in this together.  Let’s nurture ourselves, care for each other and weave love through it all.  Today’s just a special reminder of exactly that.  Women are a force to be reckoned with, not because they are abrasive but because love creates more love, our nurturing ability creates more safety and the world can do with so much more of this.  Let’s celebrate today and everyday, that’s how we change the world together.
