Two minutes with Hayley Richardson

Today I’m delighted to introduce to you the gorgeous in every way, Hayley Richardson.  Hayley is a wellness coach who shares her big love of life, inspiring others to action.  Her tag line – ‘Fall in Love with your Life’ says it all really!  I’ve asked her the ‘hard’ questions today – plus I help her break free of her chocolate addiction!

What does fertility mean to you?
I could go off on a multitude of tangents here so I’ll give you a few words to describe what fertility means to me.
Balance, in body mind and spirit.
Love, with a partner who’s ready to bring another soul into the world.
Femininity, connecting with your feminine essence.
Wellbeing, embracing natural health.
Nurturing, motherhood.

What is one ritual or practice that you do that connects you back to yourself as a woman?
This is such a beautiful question, and my answer would be meditation, in nature. Anything from beach walks, to picnics on the lawn to camping in rugged bushland helps me to feel alive and connected with my foundational essence.

If you could tell your teen self 1 piece of advice about health/fertility/hormones, what would it be?
I’ve got two! The first, would be fall in love with nourishing foods. The ones that flood your body with delicious healthy goodness. Do this, and you’ll never need to diet in your life (besides, diets don’t work anyway).

Second, would be steer clear of the pill. You have a hormonal imbalance and PCOS, and using the pill will only mask the symptoms. Save yourself loads of health and money worries by treating it the natural way.

Would you change something you did in previous years with regard to fertility and health?  If so what might that be?
You know, I always feel like everything we do is for a reason, and the choices I made back then are what have led me to where I am now so for that (kinda wistful) reason I wouldn’t. However, yes, if I could change anything from the past in this sense I would have done more research into the Pill and got myself into yoga much sooner!

What ignites you?
I always find the topic of a healthy work-life balance fires me right up! My beliefs are so diametrically opposed to our ways of working in the West and it breaks my heart to hear and speak to the many women who are struggling to prioritise their health and wellbeing because the pressures of work dominate everything else. I really do believe it’s possible for everyone to create their own beautiful lifestyle and there’s a big part of me that wants to help motivate and inspire other women to believe it’s true for them too.

What’s your one essential health item?
Filtered water is probably the most essential, but that’s a little boring! On a different vein of thought, yoga and stress management have also become essential health practices for me. It’s all about creating an environment of balance so my body can thrive and rebuilding my gut health after years of chronic stress and sugary binges.

Favourite food?
Chocolate. I think I’m addicted – Nat Help me!!

Check check – it’s me Nat here.  Never feel guilty for eating good chocolate babe!!

Favourite movie or book?

I read a tonne of personal development books and some of my favourites are by Gabby Bernstein and Rhonda Byrne (The Secret, haha). I haven’t touched a fiction book for eons but I was always a Jane Austen girl at heart and Pride and Prejudice has me hooked whenever I read (or watch) it.

Cheesy addiction?
I totally love a good Disney movie. I had a Little Mermaid party when I turned five and to this day it’s still my favourite movie!

I’m sending my daughter over.

Morning or Evening routine?
I love my morning routine (when I stick with it!). At the moment I’m waking up around 7am and I’ll have some warm water with either lemon or ACV. Then I’ll head up to my little meditation space and chill out for 10 minutes. That’s followed by a walk, shower then breaky and then usually by 9:30am I’ll dive into my work for the day.

Keeping up my morning routine can be challenging at times, especially when I feel like I should be jumping straight into my work, but I have to say when I take some time to potter and ‘be me’ before anything else, I always feel far more calm and even productive throughout the day.

Thanks for having me on your awesome site Nat – this was a really fun interview! You can bundle your daughter up to Sydney for a Little Mermaid marathon any time – so cute!
On a more serious note, thank you for all the hard work you do. You’re sharing such incredible insights with your tribe, which is a much appreciated and potentially life-changing gift.
